Connecting Creative Communities with Skateboarding, Music, Art Exhibitions and Workshops featuring J-Fever, De La Soul, Panda Mei, Mike O’Meally, Duyananzi, The Skateboard Museum, Moose Blood, Kari Faux and more…
2 September – 4 September
Following Chengdu and Wuhan, the House of Vans Tour continued in Shanghai, celebrating Vans’ 50th Anniversary at Yun Space from 2-4 September. Vans transformed the space into Shanghai’s home to creative self-expression featuring skateboarding, art, street culture and music, giving a platform to showcase unique, creative cultures through interactive activations.
The line-up of home bread Chinese and international creative minds included mini-ramp jams, a 20 year retrospective of Vans skateboarding photography by Mike O’Meally, ‘50 years of the Waffle’ a special Vans heritage exhibition by the Skateboard Museum Berlin and immersive workshops focusing on art, music and DIY culture. Additional flavor was added through a diverse street market including bourgeoning brands, tattoo artists, collectors and skateshops as well as tasty creations from local chefs Kelley Lee, Austin Hu and Jenny Gao. To round off the evening on Friday and Saturday nights Vans fans were treated with unforgettable musical performances from ‘Musicians Wanted’ winners, Sugar Bro, Ped in Silence, Tong Dang and Moose Blood, J-fever Soulspeak, Kari Faux and De La Soul.
The event is part of a global series of House of Vans experiences and further cements Vans’ dedication and support for creative communities around the world. Throughout the final months of 2016, Vans will continue its House of Vans Tour in Asia Pacific offering a variety of activations including skateboarding demos, music events, interactive design workshops and art installations.
